Albert John Fenoy, MD

About Dr. Fenoy

After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine, he completed his residency at the University of Iowa followed by fellowship training at CHU Grenoble in France. He began his career at the University of Texas Houston, where Dr. Fenoy grew his practice in neuromodulation. Dr. Fenoy is also a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgeons.

Dr. Fenoy is a Professor at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, focusing on the development of innovative technologies to improve outcomes for patients with neurological conditions, including deep brain stimulation (DBS) and other forms of neuromodulation. Learn more about DBS here.

He has utilized this expertise in DBS by performing over 800 cases to date. Dr. Fenoy is also known for his expertise in high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), a non-invasive surgical technique that uses focused ultrasound waves to heat and destroy targeted tissue without harming surrounding healthy tissue. In 2023, North Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health equipped Dr. Fenoy with this technology in order to bring the highest quality of care to the community. Learn more about HIFU here.

DBS & HIFU Research

Dr. Fenoy has been involved in several clinical and research trials in DBS and has been exploring the use of HIFU for the treatment of a variety of movement disorders such as essential tremor and Parkinson's disease. He has also been actively involved in educating other physicians and surgeons in lectures and meetings around the world on the use of DBS and HIFU.

Using the latest techniques and technology to diagnose and treat a wide range of neurological conditions, including Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, treatment resistant depression, and chronic pain, he is also actively involved in research to improve the effectiveness of surgical treatments for these conditions.
